Email - Last Call Home and some "Interesting photography"

Mother’s Day weekly

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! πŸ‘©

This week  was so amazing. I got to see my beautiful mother and my family. It was crazy to realize that next time I see my family it will be in person. But, for now I need to stay focused.

Big News! Noelia and Paula are getting baptized this week. We are so excited for them. Noelia is so ready its crazy. She testified of the book of Mormon to some investigator in the class that was kinda being dumb. She said, "Well if you wanna know it's true, read it, pray, and follow your answer. God will tell you!" That was so amazing. So we are excited for this upcoming weekend. Life is good!

Yesterday, I was able to see the lovely faces of my family. πŸ™‚ I just hope they know how much I love them. It's great knowing that no matter how far or long we are apart, we are still best friends. There's nothing else in this world like having an Eternal Family. I am so happy to know that I'll be with them for the eternities. Nobody else I'd rather be with.

Again, Happy Mothers day to my mom. I love her so much and don't know where I'd be without her. πŸ™‚

We had a super awesome Mother’s Day party and I ate lots of food and we sang the song Mother I love you for the ward in Spanish! We didn’t have any practice but it went well. Sorry it’s such a short letter this week, but I was able to discuss the rest of my past week with my family yesterday.

I love you guys! Hug your mom's this week! They deserve all the love in the world honestly. πŸ™‚

Email - Can You Accept a Challenge?

Weekly update for May 1st - 6th

Hey fam! Como estΓ‘n todos?

First of all. Thank you for all your prayers. Noelia got her job Now she's getting baptized in 2 weeks. Ahhh, so awesome! Julio came to church and he's progressing so well for baptism.

Unfortunately, Bianka had to go back to the Dominican Republic for a little bit because her grandma is dying. 😞 so she couldn't get baptized yesterday. But I know everything has a purpose and that it will all work out. As soon as Bianka gets back she's getting baptized. πŸ™‚ I'm so excited.  I also got to go back to Passaic on an exchange and got to see some of my members, recent converts, and investigators. I loved it!

This week the Elders over there had a ping pong table in their house. It turns out that I’m a ping pong wizard and I’m down to play any of you at ping pong now. Call me Bruce lee. Honestly tho I instantly had a love for ping pong.

It was really cool this week.  My comp and I went to a meeting with the leaders of the mission and it was so spiritual it was awesome. It's so cool seeing the Lord guide our prophet, to the apostles, to the seventy, to my mission president, to us, and us to the other missionaries. Like there's nothing else like this. Divine revelation from God really is such an amazing gift. And it is for everything! Like, there's no limit in what ways the lord can bless us. There's no limit of questions that we can ask him. There's no limit of answers. No matter what your question, there's an answer. No matter your trial, there's a way out. No matter who you are, one day you can truly become like our Heavenly Father and his only Begotten. Even Jesus Christ.

I love my savior. I am so grateful for the sacrifice he made, just to help me become more like he is. It was such a selfless act. To help such imperfect people. Like, I'm here in Paterson, where I've seen more sin here than in any other place in my life. Yet Christ experienced every single pain these people have felt. He took their sins! He went through what they have, because he loves them. Even though they reject him and don't keep any of his commandments. He continues to love them and call them. His hand is outstretched still. It's so amazing. Christ's love is so real, and it's there for all to receive.

How do we receive it? Ask and ye shall receive. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. I testify that it's true. Everyone can have this love. Why wade in hardship? God wants us to be happy. So let's be happy! Let's rejoice! Let's praise Jesus Christ and preach his name to the world! There's way too much to be happy about in life. Why focus on the bad? πŸ™‚

But of course I know hard things happen. So I want to commit all of you to just ask God straight up for the help you want. Don't lie to him. Hahaha. Ask for what you want. For help, for health, for better grades, the new Avengers movie, for your next door neighbor to please turn down the music cuz you have district meeting the next day and need to sleep. Whatever it is. I promise that God will give you what you need. Even if it wasn't what you expect. I love you all and hope you have a great week.

Email - Wood2Hood

Weekly update for April 23rd - 29th

 Espero que estΓ©n bien!

Well I’m not sure there is anything very interesting from this week... but I’ll try to make this email fun.

On Thursday we had zone conference and we trained all our missionaries on how to be more bold and helping people make and keep commitments. They really liked it and we feel that it should help our zone do better. So the name for our zone is #Wood2Hood. Wood, because a lot of our zone is super rich and is in the woods. Number 2 because we are zone 2... haha and Hood, because we also have a couple really Hood areas like the one I’m in... so we cover from wood2hood.

We are teaching a lot of people. Honestly we have been so blessed with finding prepared people to teach and work with! The members are helping us so much by introducing us to their friends and coming out with us to teach! This ward is amazing. I’m so grateful to be able to serve here with these people and my great companion!

This week is going to warm up a lot and when it warms up it gets crazy... let’s just say that when the temperature goes up here so does the wickedness... we have to make sure we are smart with where we go and who we talk to. It’s really sad...

So Bianca’s baptism may be happening this coming week! Like 85% sure that it will be happening if all goes well.So keep her in your prayers and helpfully we will see more to come this month of may.

Also some crazy news is that we will be getting a missionary that was serving in Bulgaria. All the missionaries over there had to leave, so 4 of them will be coming to New Jersey and one of them will be in our zone.

I love you all and I’m grateful for all your prayers and support! Have a great week!

Email - Pushing Hard To The End - 78 Days Left

Howdy everyone! Time is flying out here in the 973.

My first week with Elder Risenmay has been great! We have been working
like crazy.

We have 4 more people on baptismal date, 12 new
investigators and 7 investigators came to church. Yes, 7!

So a little bit about my new comp. his name is Christian Risenmay. He
is from Provo Utah, he loves missionary work and he has been out for
almost 10 months now. He loves Jesus just like me. :)
We are working hard and finding lots of people to teach! We have a
goal of baptizing 4 people this transfer and it is very possible but
we will need your prayers and faith!
Pray for Noelia, Paula, Bianca, Miguel, Stephanie, and Jissette!

Also we had an amazing experience this Sunday. As a mission
we had a goal to find families. So yesterday we were walking down the
street street when we found Domingo and he sent us to his house to
find his family and there were 8 of them there at the time and we have
a return appointment with them for next week!  We will keep you
updated on that!

Well I don’t have a ton of time and I am at the point where I
feel like nobody reads my emails so I will just stop here. Haha I love
all those who read this and all the others who don’t, well your missing out. LOL

Email - The Emails Get Shorter The Closer He Gets To His Return Date :')

Well this week was zone p day so I don't have a lot of time to write.

Well anyway this week we had transfers and I will be staying here and my new comp will be Elder Risenmay.  He is literally one of my favorite missionaries ever! He is so sincere and works really hard. He will probably be with me until the end of my mission too.

We have also been called to he the district leaders too... So now we have both zone leader assignments and district leader assignments... This will be a busy couple months!
This week we had weather in the 80s and also rainy and in the 40s so that was a big plot twist.

I will hopefully be able to write more next week but I love you all and hope you feel the Saviors love more strongly this week! He loves you!

Email - I Have Mad Pancake Skillzzz

Weekly email for April 2nd - 8th

Time is flying. Make it slow down.

So this week was great as always. Today I went fishing at some lake that is like 3 miles from my house. I didn’t catch anything sadly and it was quite funny because the people around me were trying to tell me how to fish and what bait to use and how to tie a knot but I didn't have the heart to tell them that I already knew all that. Or that I’m pretty sure that I have caught more fish than all of them combined so I just took their advice like I had no idea what I was doing. Haha I can’t wait to go fishing back in AZ!

So on Tuesday we had a lesson with Bianca and she is doing pretty bad. She is not mentally all there and her parents are on the verge of taking her to a mental facility. We went over with President and talked about the importance of reading and praying and helped her realize when she is feeling upset or depressed or really any negative feeling that she could read from the scriptures and talk to her Father in Heaven. We sang I am a child of God and the parents were crying by the end. Not gunna lie we did sound great as a trio with President.

I had an exchange with Elder Feick the AP and I went to his area in Elizabeth. It’s a pretty rough place too. Nothing compared to my area but still pretty low class hood area. They live in an apartment with 4 missionaries and Elder Fletcher from Mesa lives there! He is the greatest. We will be best friends when he gets home 1 year after me. For breakfast we made pancakes and everyone was doubtful of my cooking skillzzz until I made them pancakes and now they call me chef Davis. ;)

Our cool tent fort

I also went on an exchange with Elder Broberg from Utah and it was great. He is still in training but he is a great teacher and is finally getting used to living in the hood of Paterson haha. There are so many stories I could tell you from this week but I will limit myself.

So it turns out that our mission the New Jersey Morristown mission is the only mission in the world that is currently using Facebook for finding. Many other missionaries in the world have Facebook but just haven’t mastered it like our mission.

My comp and I are currently doing the best, numbers wise with Facebook so I guess that makes us the best Facebook missionaries in the whole world ;)

That’s about all I can remember for now but i want you all to know that i love the mission and it’s making me sad to realize it is coming closer to the end of my time here so I will make the most of my remaining time. I love you all and invite you to study the conference talks throughout the week. Have a good one.

Email - I Went On A Hike In The "Mountains"

Sorry for slacking on my weekly letters! I'm just living up the
mission and talking with all the people and not taking time to email everyone.
(We'll I have but they've been short)

We had another snowstorm on Tuesday, so that was fun. We did a lot of
calling and Facebook work because everyone else was online at the same
time.

On Wednesday we again visited the family Fletcher Diaz and had a great
dinner and lesson. This teenager I had been talking to on Facebook a
while back texted me out of no where and asked how to get to church.
She and her mom came, and they loved it. We have been over a few times
since then and they love us so much. They live in a rough part of the
city, and are looking to move soon, but until then we are teaching
them. It's been a bit of a humorous struggle to get them to address us
correctly, because our first names are on Facebook. It's really weird
to be called by your first name on the mission the few times it
happens.

Outside of that, we met some very neat people this week, but most of
them haven't kept in contact very well, so on Sunday we were feeling
pretty bummed. However, at church we had all of our recent converts
come, and Karolina gave an amazing and spirit-guided talk in church
about prayer and faith. She is the mom of the Dominican family that
was baptized  a little over a month ago. We will be going to the
temple with them and Ken soon we hope. The two less active families we
have been focusing on came to church as well, and they were  well
follow shipped by the ward.

I spoke on Sunday and I spoke on the 3 things every recent
convert needs. 1. Friends 2. A calling. 3. The good word of God.

Today we went on a little hike and went to the falls again with the
zone. There are not very many mountains over here, but we take advantage
of what we do have. It was a nice view and made me a little more
excited to actually go on a hike and see mountains again.

Well, I love you all and so does your Heavenly father! Have a great one and watch
general conference with some questions in mind.
