Well first off I'd just like to apologize to all of you! Last week on p day we had an all mission p day... the whole mission met up and we played sports at a park in Morristown most of the day! We did not have wifi out there and I got caught up hanging out will all my buddies and didn't write a weekly... mostly because we had almost no time to email at all!
Weekly Bullet Points
Last week: May 29th - June 4th
So we take a bus to do our laundry, but we missed the bus two times. So, we were like an hour late to do laundry. Not that we have a time to do it but an hour later than planned.
I had the best food I've had on my mission! It was a fried tortilla with some amazing ground beef on top with an amazing sauce and queso blanco.
Easily 1 of the top 10 tastiest foods I've had on my mission or possibly my life! I really love Spanish food. We even make it at home a lot of times...
I had another 10-15 people asked me if I lived in Spain or if I learned my Spanish there.... makes me happy!
We had to clean up the house since that's what the mission presidents said. All missionaries had to.
Speaking of mission presidents, ours will be leaving in like 2 weeks (from right now) I'm going to miss them a lot! They have helped me and changed my life in so many ways.
We printed out a ton of English class papers and put them up around town and in Spanish places and restaurants. We get lots of calls by people who want to come!
(In English = Classes taught by two attractive American men)
We went out to Jersey City (super ghetto) and it was like 15 min before we had to be home and we must have missed our bus or something because it never came.. so we had to start walking home. At 9:40 PM the Jersey City Elders came and picked us up and drove us home.
We had like 3 investigators and 4 less actives at church. It was a great week!
So last week was fast Sunday and for our break your fast meal we had chicken feet soup :-) luckily I was not served a foot, but a random part I couldn't tell what it was... it smelled a little weird, but it still taste decent...
This weeks update: June 5th - 11th
So last p day we had an all mission p day. We went to a park in Morristown and played all kinds of sports. I started with softball and man it was so fun! We had some soft foam balls and I got a super good hit and it went way over everyone. The Mission President said it was the best hit he saw all day haha. I spent like all day playing sports with all my mission buddies. The mission is so awesome!! For lunch we had Cafe Rio and it was super good! We had a nice spiritual hour at the end of the day and President and Sister Taggart gave their testimonies for the last time before leaving home. It's so crazy that we will have a new Mission President in 2 weeks. New ideas, new rules, new way to run the mission. So that's why I didn't get a weekly email out last week. I didn't have any time!
We had interviews with president after district meeting and it was sad to think it will be my last one with him! He is an amazing man and is so loving!
We went on an exchange with the zone leaders in union city and it was awesome! So many Spanish people there! So while we were knocking doors some older lady opened the door for us and let us in and I could just feel the light in her so I said, "She looks like a member" then we both laughed. So we sat down and started to ask some questions and talk to her when Elder Taylor asked, "So what religion are you?" And then she said, "I'm Mormon, I saw you at church last week..." AWKWARD! It's amazing how I could tell she was a member from just how it felt in her home.
After we came back we had a nice breakfast from an awesome member named Agnes. She is a returning less active and is working on getting back to the temple. Her testimony is so strong and we taught her how to use gospel library and she loves it. We had an awesome lesson on forgiveness with her.
We saw Cesar and taught him the plan of salvation and he liked it all until we got to the 3 kingdoms.... so luckily since I've been really trying to use scriptures to answer questions I was able to show him some scriptures to help him realize it's more than just heaven and hell... I love the scriptures! We also saw Hector who is working towards baptism. Before he makes the step he said he wants to get his eyes fixed so he can read the Book of Mormon himself. I believe he will take that step some day!
We woke up at 5 in the morning and the Jersey City Elders picked us up and we went out to Greenville and balled it up with 8 other Elders!
We taught a less active and her son was swearing like sooooo much! It was super bad! I didn't know what to say... but her older sons are cool and we will work with them.
We went to a Dominican members house and she made us the famous mangu y los tres gulpes. It's smashed plantains, fired eggs, fried cheese, and fried salami. It's sooooo good.
We were out in Jersey City knocking doors and a fire truck drove by full of firemen and they started making fun of us and it was pretty weird that firemen would make fun of us. Oh well I'm used to it by now haha.
Later that day a group of punks walked by and one of them yelled, "Hey everyone, look! The Jehovah Witness got bikes now! And the whole group was laughing... I was gunna say something but I didn't... haha the mission is great!
We taught English class and it was sooo funny when I tried to have the class say supercalifrgilisticexpialidotous (I'm not sure how to spell it) but it was so funny listening to them try and say it!
The past couple days and the next few days will be hot! Mid 90s with like 90% humidity! I'd take AZ heat any day over this!
I love the mission so much! I'm sorry this weekly was so long but it's two weeks in one... please forgive me! I love you all and can't wait to talk to you next week! Have a blessed week!
